The universe is a spooky place, full of zombie stars, invisible matter, and monster galaxies lurking within the silent darkness of the cosmos.

In an effort to pay tribute to the bizarre mysteries that encompass us, NASA’s Exoplanet Exploration Program Workplace produced a set of illustrations meant to seem like classic horror film posters. All draw inspiration from actual cosmic phenomenon like darkish matter, gamma ray bursts and exoplanets with hellish situations.

“One of many issues I actually like about these posters is that when you spend a while learning the artwork after which possibly go be taught a bit extra about every of those matters, you’ll see there was numerous thought by the artists in regards to the decisions they made to spotlight the science,” Jason Rhodes, an astrophysicist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab, who consulted on the mission, stated in a NASA launch from 2020.

Learn on for such cinematic classics as Darkish Matter: One thing Else Is Out There and Gamma Ray Ghouls.
