EU leaders to threaten Belarus with extra sanctions

EU leaders will threaten to impose recent sanctions on Belarus if it continues to assist Russia’s battle in Ukraine, in line with draft conclusions of this week’s summit. Leaders will urge Minsk “to cease enabling the Russian battle of aggression” and say Europe “stays prepared to maneuver rapidly with additional sanctions towards Belarus if wanted.” Russia is planning to station 9,000 troopers in Belarus and shortly maintain joint live-free navy drills.
