2 UN peacekeepers killed, 4 wounded in northeastern Mali

Two peacekeepers of the United Nations Multidimensional
Built-in Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) have been killed and
4 others wounded when their car hit a do-it-yourself mine throughout a
search and detection patrol within the northeastern city of Tessalit,
the UN mission mentioned Monday on its Twitter account, Pattern stories citing
Xinhua.

“Our heartfelt ideas exit to our peacekeepers: two lifeless and
4 injured in Tessalit, following the explosion of a mine.
Improvised explosive units (IEDs) are one of many critical threats
dealing with our colleagues. I salute once more their braveness and sense of
obligation,” mentioned the tweet signed by the top of MINUSMA, El-Ghassim
Wane.

By its decision 2640 (2022) of June 29, the United
Nations Safety Council prolonged the mandate of MINUSMA till June
30, 2023.

Since 2012, Mali has been coping with independence
insurgencies, jihadist incursions and inter-communal violence that
have left hundreds lifeless and a whole bunch of hundreds extra
displaced.
